Mother's Day

generations

today
unlocked with sun
streaming upon my face,
cat curled by my side, mother’s day
begins

beyond
my room, toddlers
play, laughter echoes of joy,
love unbound, of family here
right now

my child
and her children,
embracing our special
day together, mom and nana
shared bliss

my son
calls, no longer
living behind fences,
his voice reflects maturity
released

one more
call to my mom,
changed by a stroke, but still
present, she remains distant but
alive

we are
generations
sharing a common thread,
womb to womb to womb interweaves
our lives

    1. I'm delighted you enjoyed this. The last stanza says a lot to me as well, embraces a moment of lineage - generations - that is present right now.

      Thanks / judy
